I Am Traveling the World
I set out on an adventure to visit twenty-seven countries in less than two
years. Friends, I am very fortunate to be given the gift of travel. Less
than 1% of the world’s over six billion will ever have an opportunity
to travel around the world. Currently, I report on the current situation of the countries I visit, allowing me to examine cultures, interview citizens,
and hear astonishing life stories.
At night, I have walked the streets of Shanghai, sang with the locals in Hong Kong, jumped off a boat into the China Sea off of the coast in Vietnam, I saw atrocious acts against humanity in India, went on Safari in Kenya, swam with whales in Australia, and danced…oh did I ever dance in South Africa.
The experience of traveling the world has inspired me in many ways. I find that Americans are missing out on real news, on heart-wrenching stories, and on life outside our great country. Most of all, Americans are missing events that can and will affect their daily lives. I am left pondering to myself what I can do when I am back in the U.S. to help people understand the greater importance of what is happening in our world. Through traveling the world, I have compiled a detailed list of contacts and resources in each country that I have visited. These people are eager to tell their stories and their countries’ news to the world.
All the while, HIV and AIDS are spreading throughout the world like wildfire; the world’s fresh water supply is set to be exhausted by 2025; there is the heartwarming story of the abolishing of the apartheid system in South Africa and the success the country is experiencing as a result; women are becoming more powerful and reshaping life in India; women are being beaten to death today in China. These are just small examples of the greater picture of what is going on in the world; the greater picture that I would like to express to viewers.
Yes, I am very grateful for my experiences. I have a great
support web while abroad. My mentors are amazing people and I thank them
very for pushing me.
I now start a new chapter. Yes, I am traveling the world, I have seen many
things, and I am ready to share my knowledge and starting gaining more.
How? Well, that remains to be resolved, but I am confident, just as the
women are in Chennai, India, that I can make a difference.
